Journey Toward Easter
During Holy Week (between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday) we walked with Christ each day, remembering what Jesus did for us on that day. In the Spring of 2007 we encouraged all our church family members to participate in a 40 Day Adventure through the New Testament.
In partnership with the organization "Faith Comes By Hearing" and the American Bible Society, we offered a free CD containing a dramatized recording of the New Testament in .mp3 file format to each individual.
Then between Easter and Pentecost this year, we listened to the New Testament readings for approximately 28 minutes a day for 40 days.
One participant made the following comments about this adventure: "I’m very much a visual learner; so it helped me to follow the printed Word while I listened. It was a blessing to accept the challenge to really concentrate on His Word for 40 days. Hearing and seeing the Word was a big blessing. I especially enjoyed the variety in the readers/sounds effects."
The Quest
In the spring of 2006, our church participated in the 40 Days of Purpose Campaign, which was designed to answer life's most important question: "What on earth am I here for?" Our Campaign revolved around the 5 Biblical purposes God has for our lives.
However, we began to ask the question, "How on earth can I live a life of purpose?" During the fall of 2006 we began seeking the answer to that question as we pursued "The Quest," 40 Days of Discovery which will helped us "Discover Life in the Spirit of Christ."
You are invited to join us! "The Quest" is a 40 Day adventure which you can pursue anytime. This spiritual adventure includes a daily reading from the book, The Power to Be Free, an opportunity to join in the journey with other "travelers" (so recruit someone to join you!), weekly encouragement as you meet or interact online for inspiration, training and fellowship, and the chance to incorporate ancient wisdom into our everyday lives! To participate on your own schedule, we encourage you to read the daily FaithBuilders Blog entries/podcasts (starting here), work on the weekly memory verses listed there, listen to the weekly messages archived on the FaithChurch Podcast site (starting here), and then to discuss what you are reading and learning with your fellow travelers.
